Welcome!
I am delighted to officially launch That Music Therapy Lot.
The work that Music Therapists do is so incredibly valuable both in terms of outcomes but also in terms of value for money for institutions.
Music Therapists work as highly flexible, well-trained, and calm clinicians within hectic and overwhelming workplaces. We are trained to focus on the client, to tune-out the noise, and to bring about positive change. I believe that this place in the health and social care landscape is unique but underutilised.
At That Music Therapy Lot, I want to work to change this.
We are a team of highly-skilled individuals who take our CPD and standards of proficiency seriously. We believe that Music Therapy alone does not have the answers but, when twinned with other approaches, the impact can be palpable. We believe that Music Therapists need to get with the changing times: a time of pitching for limited funding, for sticking our flag in the ground. Else, we risk losing everything that was fought for when we got state-certified to begin with.
That’s why That Music Therapy Lot are also experts in assessments. Music Therapy assessments have been lingering too long in the back of our minds. They aren’t universal, they aren’t always translatable, and they aren’t always well-known. At That Music Therapy Lot, one of our key missions is to bring entirely universal, or more widely-used assessment tools to clinicians. It is time that we have outcome measures that work for stakeholders, not just for the therapists. Using our skills, we are also working with other disciplines to support them in creating assessment tools to use in their workplace that utilise research-leading measures in a cross-disciplinary way. As such, our clinicians must be well-versed in, or receptive to, key research in outcomes measuring. The days of qualitative reporting being enough are gone. For better or worse, quantitative data is now Queen.
I hope to update this blog regularly with just my thoughts and opinions, as well as invite key contributors to join as well as we continue to grow.
If you are interested in joining us or benefitting from us, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
